Originally organised by Alan Graham, Toorbul boatbuilder the Bribie Classic was held annually on the Pumicestone Passage.
In 2003 the Bribie Island Boating Club began running the event – the organiser for ten years was Daryl Philips, helped by Paul Bird. Doug Wilson took over from Daryl for another 6 years but due to Covid 19 restrictions it was twice cancelled in 2020.
In 2021 a new Association BACE was formed to ensure the Bribie Classic Boat Regatta will be organised and held whenever possible each year.
